Dear friends -
One of my favorite pre-pandemic activities at River Glen was Change for Change - a special way for the kids to participate more fully in worship and use our pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, (and the occasional miscellaneous) toward making a difference in the world. We are kicking Change for Change back into gear this Sunday, so grab that stash and bring it to church. When the kids are in worship on Communion Sundays, they will collect Change for Change during the offering. On other Sundays, the change for change jar will be left out on the back table, so you don't have to carry a pocketful of pennies back and forth to church.
In other exciting children's ministry news, while we continue to search for a long-term Children and Families Ministries Director, we have a few folks who have stepped in to help job-share in the interim. Lori Jackson will be the Children's Sunday School Coordinator, and Emily Perucca is our Children's Ministry intern, both through the end of the year as needed. Lori's main job is planning lessons for kids' Sunday school during worship on 2nd, 4th, and 5th Sundays as well as scheduling teachers (if she calls, please say yes - she's working to make the lessons easy for you to teach.) Emily will be directing the children's choir, scheduling an adult in the prayground each Sunday, and organizing Fall Fest (mark your calendars - October 30).
I'm so thankful these folks have stepped forward, but we continue to pray for a long-term person for the position. If you know of anyone who would be a good fit for the long-term children's ministries director, please pass this info on: Director of Children and Families Ministries Job Description
See you Sunday!
Jess
