CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

PRAYGROUND

Within the worship center, we have a designated area where children are welcome to come play, pray, and participate in worship. Materials are designed and change monthly so that the children can explore the stories and seasons that the adults are also experiencing during worship. At River Glen, we are accepting and welcoming of children of all ages and abilities within the worship space. We want to provide the opportunity for all children to participate and learn about God in their own way, right alongside their parents. Everone is encouraged to join in with the children to establish connections with them and help them to experience God's love through play. The Prayground is open to all!

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School is for children Kindergarden through 5th Grade. It takes place during worship every Sunday. Children attend the first part of the service with their families where they receive a message for young disciples after which they go downstairs for their own lesson and activities. On communion Sundays, the children have a shortened lesson and return to the service for communion.

During the summer, the children do not follow a Sunday School curriculum but are instead invited to Sermon Storytime where they participate in a less structured environment with Bible stories, snacks and crafts.

PARENT'S NIGHT OUT

We all know that parents do best when they are rested and available to be their best selves for their children. The Parents' Night Out ministry is intended to allow parents this opportunity while having the peace of mind that their children are having fun and well cared for. The program will run from 5:30 to 8:30pm on the 3rd Friday of each month. PNO is $10 per child. It includes a pizza dinner and organized activities including games and crafts!

Parents' Night Out is run by Jeanne Coleman, a retired preschool school teacher with many years of experience in Children’s Ministry. She is looking forward to working with children in this setting once again. Jeanne, and all of our volunteers, have gone through Child Protection Training and are fully equipped to care for our children while you are out enjoying yourself!

CHANGE FOR CHANGE

On the first Sunday of the month, the children participate in the offering by walking around to collect change. They gather this change and periodically throughout the year, it is counted and the children decide on a cause to donate their funds. This is a wonderful opportunity that our children are able to learn about the giving and receiving of gifts at a young age.

INTERGENERATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Throughout the year, there are opportunities for families to participate in intergenerational ministries. We love to incorporate those young and old into many activities at River Glen including service projects, community meals, recreational activities, and fellowship. These opportunities arise throughout the year and are often sponsored by a range of teams at River Glen. Some of the children's favorites are Trunk or Treat, the Live Nativity, Feed My Starving Children and the Better Together midweek programs.
