DEACONS
Deacons are compassionate undershepherds of the congregation who support those going through difficulties, hardships, and grief. Can you recall a moment when someone reached out to you with compassion? Perhaps a stranger offered a smile that unknowingly comforted you in time of personal crisis. Paul names such acts of kindness and compassion as being the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).
STEPHEN MINISTERS
Stephen Ministers are trained members of the congregation who partner with specific people experiencing hard times in life to provide weekly support and prayer (https://www.stephenministries.org).
FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship is a key to our community and there are many ways River Glen gathers throughout the week and year: coffee hour, Wednesday night dinners (REV Wednesdays), Bible study or continuing education, movie nights, young adult gatherings, small group fellowship, book groups, and home Bible studies.
The Hospitality Team makes or purchases the treats for Sunday fellowship, sets out the coffee and treats and cleans up. You can also help by providing homemade treats, donating money to buy treats or donating purchased treats. If you are interested in supporting fellowship, please email Peg in the office at office@riverglen.org.
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK
The entire River Glen community prays weekly for those who are sick or in special need as well as for the world, including time for prayer with pastors during worship on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month. Specific prayer requests and needs can be directed to the church: office@riverglen.org.
BAPTISM & COMMUNION
Baptism is the recognition and sealing of the Holy Spirit in our lives when we profess our trust in Jesus Christ and our desire to support the work and worship of Christ's church. In infant baptism, we celebrate God's loving action toward us even before we are able to respond and promise to support parents and children as they grown in faithful discipleship, modeling Jesus' love and service.
The first and third Sundays, we are reminded that we are indeed the body of Christ when we break bread and participate in Holy Communion. River Glen practices an open table where all who trust in Jesus Christ are welcome to participate. If you have more questions about baptism or communion at River Glen, please contact Pastor Jess Scholten.
