Pastor's Pondering - September 10, 2021

Dear friends –

How many of us have thought: I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

Feel seen? This is Romans 7:15 – the Apostle Paul has a window into each of us. We all have goals, hopes, and dreams, but how often do turn away good opportunities to actually practice and put energy toward what we want? The spiritual life is like that as well. We want to experience God. We want to know peace. We want to build community so we can connect with others.

But we don’t want to do the hard work of showing up. We say and think we want to do these, but we let our calendars run away from us as if we don’t have choices in how we use our time. If you have been hoping to set aside time with God in a meaningful way, please consider pulling out your calendar right now, and carving out - 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Sept 18, Oct 16, Nov 20, and Dec 18. Come join Pastor Barbara and me for meaningful conversation, reflection, and prayer through spiritual direction.

Seems weird? So what – give it a try. Do what you actually want to do for your soul.

Grace and peace,

Jess
