Dear friends –

As we prepare our hearts for worship on Sunday – Christ the King Sunday, when we celebrate God’s reign over the earth in Jesus Christ – we have our eye on Advent as well, which begins on November 28. This year for Advent, we will be using a beautiful series, Close to Home, by our friends over at A Sanctified Art.

Have you ever been homesick? What does it feel like? When’s it been the worst?

Advent is, in some ways, recognizing that homesick feeling in our relationship with God – that there’s a longing for belonging and safety and the joy of being home again that will always leave us wanting. And yet, in the midst of all that, God comes to earth to dwell among us, and always always always God keeps the door open to us, ready to welcome us home into God’s very presence.

For those of you who might be traveling still from Thanksgiving on 11/28, there will be Advent devotionals on the Close to Home series available on the sign up table beginning 11/21.

Grace and peace,

Jess
