Dear friends –
If you haven’t noticed, I’m an extrovert, so I love an excuse for a social gathering. In the dark days of the winter and isolation in pandemic, I coped by planning trips and parties that I knew we could never do but thinking about them brought some joy. Because this year isn’t any kind of a decade birthday or notable wedding anniversary, most of the party planning was for: “yay, the pandemic is over” celebrations, but one date does stand out as worthy of a party: the 20th anniversary of my ordination on August 5.
20 years of ministry as a hospital chaplain, associate pastor, interim minister, and installed pastor. Because the party planning was in my head and through a little google research, it was a wild good time involving renting a train station, live music, and fireworks (go big or go home). I landed on something more reasonable – a visit to coffee fellowship after church by an ice cream truck! There’s a reason that’s where I landed, but you’ll have to be there on Sunday to hear the story.
I hope you’ll join us for worship, online or in person, and then come on out to the parking lot before noon for a visit from the Good Humor truck.
I scream, you scream – we all scream for ice cream!
Jess
