Pastor's Pondering - June 7th, 2020

Updated: Jul 3, 2020

Dear friends -

One of our core values of River Glen is our intergenerational engagement - that instead of always dividing by age groups we interact in our worship, service, and Christian formation at various times. One of those times is intergenerational Sunday school - EVERYONE is invited to join in Sunday morning at 9:30. Our theme for Sunday school is going to be woven through the morning, so it will also help you prep for worship at 10:30. Come join in! I realize we're all a little screen-tired right now, but I promise it's made a thousand times better by seeing your church family. Worship on Sunday will also include recognition of the graduates, so come join in on that celebration as well.

We are called to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep. Earlier this week, you received an invitation to pray for the community and country. We prayed especially for our siblings of color who have suffered throughout their lives because of systemic racism, and certainly more recently in the tide of violence. We prayed for our country, for the deep divides and the lack of empathy and compassion this has created. We prayed for justice - that all people would experience safety, health, freedom, and well-being. If you were unable to attend either of these prayer gatherings, click here for a recording of Friday's prayers for you to participate on your own time.

Please continue to keep all of God's children in your prayers.

Grace and peace,

Jess
