I recently came across this picture from years past of a River Glen Riverwalk worship service under the Pavilion in downtown Naperville. One of the things I remember from those Riverwalk services was the sense of community I felt with us all gathered in that space, enjoying the beauty of the Riverwalk while also experiencing the joy of being connected in our purpose in being present to worship God, enjoy his creation, and appreciate our connection to one another.
Skip ahead to 2020 and to a very different type of outdoor worship we had on the lawn of River Glen. I remember how exciting and emotional it felt to simply have worship together after a long period of staying at home watching recorded worship services. It was beautiful to be together despite the need to continue keeping our distance from one another.
This week we will have our second outdoor worship of the season, and the Worship Music and Arts teams invites you to help us recapture that feeling of community and come sit together under the tent. We will have more chairs provided, surely enough for everyone who is comfortable sitting together outside. We will be adding some pop-up tents in order to provide plenty of shade for everyone. There will be enough room in the inn. Come magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name …. TOGETHER!
