All are welcome at
River Glen Presbyterian
As a progressive church with an inter-generational ministry focus and a heart for service, River Glen has long been known for its warm, welcoming spirit. For many years, members of the LGBTQ+ community have been welcomed to membership, held positions of leadership, and are full participates in the sacramental life of the church. After the PC(USA)’s General Assembly passed a measure to permit ministers and sessions to "use their own discernment to conduct same-sex marriage ceremonies where allowed by law," the congregation entered a time of profound discernment and discussion that ultimately led to the decision to be a church where same-sex marriage ceremonies would be officiated, blessed, and celebrated as well.
Although this decision caused some members to find new church homes, it strengthened the hearts and resolve of those who remained, believing that we indeed "are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28). Today, we are a congregation that intentionally creates a safe place where people of all ages, abilities, ethnicities, gender identities, and sexual orientations can come to worship God, learn to follow Jesus, and be guided by the Holy Spirit.
We hope that becoming a part of Covenant Network, More Light Presbyterians, and gaychurch.org will ensure that everyone in our community will find a welcoming and affirming place at River Glen and will be supported by a community that celebrates diversity and finds unity in Christ.
