RIVER GLEN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH WELCOMES ITS NEW LEAD PASTOR, REV. JESSICA SCHOLTEN
River Glen Presbyterian Church in Naperville, IL is pleased to announce that the Reverend Jessica Scholten will be joining our congregation as our new lead pastor and head of staff effective December 1st.
Jess is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and has served for nine years as an intentional interim pastor in the Madison, WI area for five churches. She graduated Magna Cum Laude graduate of Hope College and Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI, where she grew up. She
“What I most desire is to be aware of God’s presence,” Jess said during her interview process with River Glen. “Helping others to do the same is part of how God is calling me to serve as well. Whether that is during Sunday worship, in a Peruvian jungle medical clinic on a mission trip, or during personal devotional time, seeking for myself and equipping others to pursue those ‘thin places’ where God’s presence is experienced more deeply. Always, it involves the dynamic listening to God’s presence and discerning the ways congregations can more deeply love God and love others.”
Jess and her husband Tom moved to Madison from High Point, NC, where she served for six years as an associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church. Her ministry there focused on congregational care, evangelism and new member assimilation. Tom has his Masters Degree in Geography and has served as a crime analyst for the Madison Police Department. Together, they enjoy traveling, jazz music, biking, and reading.
