9:00 to 10:00 LEARNING (education for all ages)
10:00 to 10:25 GATHERING (a time of fellowship)
10:30 to 11:30 WORSHIPING
Come as you are. The congregation dress ranges from jeans to, what some might call, church clothes. It does not matter what you wear–you are welcome.
Children are always welcome in our midst, especially when we worship. You will find children’s bulletins, worship activity bags and books in the back of the Sanctuary. During the service, following the Message for Young Disciples, children age 4 through 5th grade are invited to our Children’s Worship program to continue their worship experience.
River Glen offers child care for children ages 3 and under all morning.
River Glen began in 1984, and was founded by our current organizing pastor, David Boumgarden.
Those interested in knowing more about the River Glen community are invited to begin their journey with the introductory gathering called The Taste of River Glen. This is a good opportunity to meet others and learn about the church. For those ready to learn more, the church offers Living the Spiritual Adventure. In these classes, you’ll learn more about the adventure of life as a follower of Jesus, make new friends, and have an opportunity to take a spiritual inventory of your life. All are welcome. Some who participate in the class choose to make a commitment to church membership. Others don’t, but continue as more informed friends of the church.
Baptism is a special practice of the church which signifies God’s call and care of a child to our congregation. Because we believe children learn faith best while part of a local congregation, it is normally expected that at least one parent will be an active member of the church or willing to join. A two-hour instruction precedes the baptism itself, which is then conducted at a worship service.
We often baptize adults who have chosen to profess their faith. To become baptized is to become a follower of Jesus and we resource those for the journey through Living the Spiritual Adventure.
